What We Fund

We invest in projects that make our communities safer and support the people who protect them. As a §501(c)(3) public charity, grants must serve a public interest—no private benefit or inurement to insiders.

Public-Safety Education

Short classes, school programs, smoke-alarm outreach, and seasonal safety campaigns that measurably reduce risk.

Training & Scholarships

Tuition, course fees, and essential training that improve responder readiness and public safety. Awards use objective, non-discriminatory criteria (e.g., course need, certifications, performance, financial need).

Community Risk Reduction

Projects that prevent emergencies before they start—focused on local risks and data.

Benevolent & Disaster Relief

Limited, case-by-case aid for Fire/EMS families and community members facing verified hardship or disaster. We prefer vendor payments where possible and follow IRS disaster-relief/benevolence guidance.

Payment method

When possible, we pay vendors directly (e.g., utility company, course provider) rather than individuals—standard for compliant disaster/benevolence programs.

How we decide

Awards are reviewed against:

  1. Alignment with our four pillars

  2. Clear public benefit

  3. Readiness/impact, and

  4. Budget/feasibility.

We avoid any private benefit to insiders (board, officers, staff) per IRS rules.

  • Compensation/benefits for insiders or their businesses (private inurement/benefit)

  • Political campaigns or lobbying

  • Non-objective, closed or preferential scholarships (must use objective, public-interest criteria)
